On Good and Bad Karma
I'm a big believer in karma. Not because of "My Name is Earl" or because it's "trendy". I believe because I've actually seen it work. Instantly, in a couple cases.
I believe so much that I've learned to recognize the trends and come to acknowledge and respect them. For instance...
Ever since the acquisition of the new car I have been experiencing annoyances of both greater and lesser magnitude. Two weeks after I got Suzi Suzuki (2007 Grand Vitara....Suh-weeet!) a background hit the windshield and cracked it. The following week some fargin' icehole broke the passenger window and stole my tripod and a couple less important items. Now, a headlight lamp is out.
I've suffered various bumps and bruises and cat scratches, all minor, broke a glass leaving me with only two, and a bunch of little things I've probably forgotten.
Then there was today: First, while taking a box down off the top shelf, a rather large lens fell and hit me on the head. Luckily, the lens was unharmed. Later, I went to take a box down and had a dozen other boxes come raining down around me...no damage there either, just more work. THEN while photographing a student, I shoved an ottoman across the wood floor and into a ceramic vase...which disintegrated. And, if that wasn't enough, the main light later fell off the tripod arm when the "five thousand dollar piece of metal" it rested on decided to let go. Fortunately, I was close enough to grab it and it landed softbox side down. No damage.
So only one conclusion can be reached. I'm paying and paying and paying off the bad karma, so something good is on the way.
Or, I'm just really clumsy.
