On Good and Bad Karma

I'm a big believer in karma. Not because of "My Name is Earl" or because it's "trendy". I believe because I've actually seen it work. Instantly, in a couple cases.

I believe so much that I've learned to recognize the trends and come to acknowledge and respect them. For instance...

Ever since the acquisition of the new car I have been experiencing annoyances of both greater and lesser magnitude. Two weeks after I got Suzi Suzuki (2007 Grand Vitara....Suh-weeet!) a background hit the windshield and cracked it. The following week some fargin' icehole broke the passenger window and stole my tripod and a couple less important items. Now, a headlight lamp is out.

I've suffered various bumps and bruises and cat scratches, all minor, broke a glass leaving me with only two, and a bunch of little things I've probably forgotten.

Then there was today: First, while taking a box down off the top shelf, a rather large lens fell and hit me on the head. Luckily, the lens was unharmed. Later, I went to take a box down and had a dozen other boxes come raining down around me...no damage there either, just more work. THEN while photographing a student, I shoved an ottoman across the wood floor and into a ceramic vase...which disintegrated. And, if that wasn't enough, the main light later fell off the tripod arm when the "five thousand dollar piece of metal" it rested on decided to let go. Fortunately, I was close enough to grab it and it landed softbox side down. No damage.

So only one conclusion can be reached. I'm paying and paying and paying off the bad karma, so something good is on the way.

Or, I'm just really clumsy.

Return of the Mack

Actually, it's just me. I've been missing blogging of late, so I'll attempt something new soon. Stay tuned!

Still here...

Hey both of you,

I'm still here, still breathing, still plodding along, but not too much going on in the inspiration department. I have had a few random thoughts and a couple happenings, but nothing I feel free to post about just yet.

I'll keep you...uh...posted.

On Life...A Movie...and Stuff.

Hello both of you.

Sorry it has been a while since I posted here. I'm considering moving all my blogging to my MySpace page, which seems to get a great deal more traffic. For those of you who have not seen it, the address is:

www.myspace.com/tameladement

So what's up with me? Lets see. Got laid off from my one and only job week before last. That sucks.

Been spending a lot more time at the gym...that's good.

Having little to no success searching for even an in-the-meantime job...that's bad.

Not having much success getting the house clean and organized...that's bad.

I was going back through the archives and have noticed that I have not done any movie reviews of late. I saw The Pursuit of Happyness (yes, that is how they spell happiness in the movie) and I can't recommend it highly enough.

This was just the kind of movie my depressed and unmotivated self needed to see. Will Smith gives a terrific performance. The script is extremely well written as well, so I give it five stars.

I'm looking to expand my photography repertoire and have ordered numerous books on commercial photography, and area that I would dearly love to explore.

Ummmm...what else?

I'm building my 2007 reading list, which will have a lot fewer books on it than last year, I keep getting distracted by new books. Any suggestions are welcome.

That's about it, really. Check out the MySpace page, it's a work in progress, but if you don't know me that well, it is a good place to start.

Election Day Part 2

Wow...just...wow. I hoped things would turn out this way, and 'lo and behold it did. Democratic majority in both the House and Senate (albeit a very slim one in the Senate), the Stem Cell Initiative passes in Missouri along with a minimum wage increase.

The Smoking tax increase did not pass, which tells me there are still far too many damn smokers in this country.

And curiouser and curiouser, Donald Rumsfeld resigns the day after the Dems take over congress. Hmmmmmmmmmm.

All in all, I would call this a very satisfying election. Now, let the investigations begin!

Holding my breath...

OH...MY...GAWD! Two races to be determined to see if the Dems control BOTH houses of Congress. I did the math on Virginia race...if the Republican George Allen were to pick up every single one of the 7,000+ votes remaining (which he won't), he will TIE his challenger Democrat Jim Webb. In other words, yes Virginia, you really are a Blue State.
